Shasta Trinity Trail - Fundraiser Benefit

Shasta Trinity Trail, known as Papoose Trail in Whiskeytown NRA (violet)

The Friends of Whiskeytown, Inc. has committed to raising $100,000 for construction of the Shasta Trinity Trail.  This trail will connect the Sundial Bridge to the Trinity Alps via existing trails and the now under construction, Papoose Trail.

The Whiskeytown link, 5.7 miles in length, passes through the park, and will connect Redding to wilderness areas to the west.  It will also connect the east and west sides of Whiskeytown NRA with one contiguous trail, through an old growth forest on Shasta Balley.  A significant portion of the trail passes through an area which has never been logged, providing hikers with an out-of-the-ordinary experience at Whiskeytown

Waterfall Week -  2008

Friends of Whiskeytown and the National Park Service celebrate Waterfall Week annually with guided ranger hikes to Brandy Creek Falls, Boulder Creek Falls and Whiskeytown Falls.

Activities include painting demonstrations by the Whiskeytown Plein Air Painters at the base of the waterfalls.  The group also holds an Art Fair at the Visitor's Center as they promote outdoor painting in Northern California.

It's should be a great week of hiking, art and fun filled family events.  For more information, visit the Whiskeytown National Recreation Areas at www.nps.gov/whis
